Bastelpost

What's in the box: A single craft project with the specific materials it needs, plus picture or video instructions, with basic supplies like scissors, glue and paints left for you to provide.

Bastelpost is a Swiss craft subscription for young children. Each month a parcel arrives around the middle of the month with one creative project, the materials needed to make it, and instructions as step by step pictures or a video. There are two age groups: roughly 2.5 years and up, and 4 to 8 years. Subscriptions run for 3, 6 or 12 months. A one month trial is CHF 25, and both age group subscriptions are listed at CHF 75, with shipping included. Gift sets and gift vouchers are also available. The kits deliberately leave out common household supplies such as scissors, pencils, colouring pens, brushes, craft glue, hot glue, glue sticks and watercolours. This cuts waste, but you need these on hand, and a hot glue gun is not in every home. Bastelpost focuses on arts and crafts, building fine motor skills and creativity, not science or engineering, so families wanting STEM experiments should look elsewhere. The site is in German only. Parents should expect to help the youngest children. For Swiss families wanting a simple, screen free monthly activity without planning or shopping for supplies, it is a sensible, modest option.
