What's in the box: Pre-portioned ingredients and step-by-step recipes for the meals you pick, or oven-ready and ready-to-eat dishes, depending on the format.
Blue Apron is one of the longest-running US meal kit brands, and its current site leans hard on flexibility. The homepage says several times that no subscription is needed, and it also offers a separate Subscribe & Save option and a Blue Apron+ program. The range now goes well beyond classic cook-from-scratch kits. Shoppers can choose 20 minute recipes, one-pan Assemble & Bake meals, family style mains and sides, Dish by Blue Apron meals and Quick Bites. The menu we saw was broad and familiar, with dishes like Hot Honey Glazed Salmon, Homemade Falafel Pitas, Chicken Chili Verde and French Onion Soup. The site also labels meals with 30g+ protein or 600 calories or less. Every recipe lists a prep time. Many take 15 to 20 minutes, but some take 45 to 55. Vegetarian dishes are available but make up a small part of the lineup. The bigger question is operational. Wonder Group has owned Blue Apron since November 2023. After its meal kit producer FreshRealm filed for bankruptcy in April 2026, fulfillment began moving to Misfits Market. A change like this can affect delivery, packaging and how consistent the menu is. New customers may want to place a single order before signing up for a recurring plan.
