Ownership. NBCUniversal shut down Bluprint in mid-2020, and TN Marketing bought its assets in July 2020 and relaunched it as Craftsy.
What's in the box: There is no physical box; a membership gives you streaming access to video classes, downloadable patterns and live instructor events.
If you are looking for a monthly box of fabric and notions, Craftsy is probably not what you want. Bluprint closed in 2020 when NBCUniversal shut it down. TN Marketing bought its assets that July and brought it back under the old Craftsy name. Today the site is built around a streaming membership. It offers more than 2,000 premium classes across over 20 categories, plus videos, downloadable patterns, recipes and live instructor events. The site does not mention a physical craft box. For sewists and quilters there is solid material: patchwork techniques, string and crazy quilts, foundation paper piecing, garments, bags, skirts without a pattern, and coats made from thrifted quilts. New members can join for $1.79 for the first year, and the site says you can cancel anytime. One membership can be shared with up to three other people, which is a nice touch for a household or a quilting group. The catalog also covers knitting, crochet, cake decorating, cooking, painting and woodworking, so sewing is only one part of it. The site also has a shop that sells DVDs. If you want lessons and patterns rather than supplies, it is good value. If you want materials at your door, look somewhere else.
