Buildm

What's in the box: When it operated, each delivery was a borrowed LEGO set to build and then return in exchange for another.

Buildm does not appear to be operating: its website, buildm.nl, no longer loads, and we could not confirm that the service is still running. Buildm was a Dutch LEGO rental service founded in 2015. Instead of buying sets outright, members borrowed LEGO sets by post, built them, and sent them back to receive another. The idea suited families whose children lose interest in a finished model quickly, and adults who enjoy building more than displaying the result. Renting also meant less clutter at home and access to more sets than most households would buy. Rental services like this depend on careful checking of returned sets, since missing pieces can spoil the experience for the next builder, and we have no reliable information on how well Buildm handled that. We also cannot verify what plans, prices or set selections it offered, so we have left those details out. Because the site is offline, we do not recommend trying to sign up or send payment. If you previously had an account or had sets on loan, keep any records of your subscription and contact your bank or card provider if you are still being charged. Anyone wanting a similar service should look for a currently active alternative and check recent reviews first.
