Caskers

What's in the box: Each quarterly shipment holds two full-size bottles of whiskey chosen by Caskers, plus digital tasting notes for each one.

Caskers is a US online spirits retailer that also runs a whiskey club. Flaviar bought it in January 2018, but Caskers still trades under its own name. The club comes in two tracks. American Whiskey covers bourbon, rye and other US styles. World of Whiskey reaches further, with bottles from places like Scotland, Ireland and Japan. Members get two full-size bottles each quarter, picked by the Caskers team, along with digital tasting notes that tell the story behind each spirit. Caskers says it will not send the same bottle twice, which helps if you want to keep discovering new labels instead of restocking ones you know. Members have also been offered early access to limited releases sold through the shop. Full bottles mean you commit to whatever gets chosen, and some months you may get something you would not have bought yourself. At times Caskers has closed the club to new members, so check whether you can sign up before planning around it. The service suits people who already like whiskey and want a steady, hands-off way to try new bottles. Beginners who want to sample many styles cheaply may get more out of a sample-based service. Alcohol delivery rules differ by state, so check that Caskers ships to you.
