What's in the box: When it operated, a typical box held pre-portioned fresh ingredients and printed recipe cards for a few chef-designed dinners chosen from that week's menu.
Cook it is no longer operating as its own service. Its website, chefcookit.com, now sends visitors straight to Fresh Prep, a separate Canadian meal kit company. Cook it was a Montreal-based meal kit brand that served households mainly in Quebec. When it was running, it delivered weekly boxes of pre-portioned ingredients with step-by-step recipes. Subscribers picked their dishes from a rotating menu and could skip weeks when needed. It presented itself as a local alternative to the large international meal kit brands, with chef-designed recipes and a focus on local ingredients. Because the brand now points elsewhere, you can no longer order a Cook it box, and you should not count on its old menu, pricing or delivery areas. The site does not say whether Cook it accounts, credits or gift cards carry over, so former customers should contact the new operator before assuming anything. Fresh Prep, where the address now leads, is a different business with its own menu, plans and policies, including reusable cooler bags instead of cardboard boxes. Judge it on its own merits, not as a continuation of Cook it. If you want a Quebec-focused meal kit, Cook it is not an option today.
