What's in the box: A typical box pairs energy gels, chews and hydration mix with a practical cycling item such as gloves, grips, a CO2 inflator, a tire plug kit or a multi-tool.

CrankBox is a cycling subscription aimed at riders who burn through ride food and would like to get useful gear along the way. Each box mixes nutrition, such as energy gels, chews and hydration mix, with one or more hand-picked cycling items. The gear leans practical. Example items listed for the series include Handske gloves, ESI grips or bar wrap, a CO2 inflator kit, lens cleaner, bike cleaner, a Dynaplug tire plug kit and a Lezyne multi-tool. These are known names in cycling, and most of them are things a regular rider will actually use instead of novelty filler. The subscription renews automatically until you cancel, so keep an eye on your renewal dates. The site does not say much about choosing flavors, avoiding allergens or setting gear sizes, and that matters if you have dietary limits or particular grip and glove preferences. Riders who already own a good multi-tool, plug kit and inflator will get less from the gear side, though the nutrition stays useful. For newer riders, or anyone building out a saddle bag kit, it is a sensible way to collect solid basics over time while keeping fuel stocked. It also makes a reasonable gift for a cyclist who rides often.
