Cutter & Squidge Subscriptions

What's in the box: Expect handmade bakes such as cakes, brownies or cookies from the bakery's all-natural range, though the site does not list the exact contents of each box.

Cutter & Squidge is a London bakery started by two sisters. It has been baking since 2015 and runs a cafe on Brewer Street in Soho. The subscriptions are one part of a much larger gift range that includes cakes, brownies, cookies, hampers and afternoon tea at home. Think of it as a regular way to get the bakery's treats rather than a separate box brand. The main site does not say how often subscription boxes arrive, what they cost or exactly what goes in each one, so check the Subscriptions page before you sign up. The bakery's approach to ingredients is what stands out. Everything is flavoured and coloured only with fruits, vegetables and spices, and it aims to use only as much fat and sugar as a bake needs. The designs are bright and playful, and the flavours tend to be experimental. It delivers across the UK, with free delivery on orders over £50 and next day delivery if you order by 4pm. You can also send one order to several addresses, each with a free personalised message, which is handy for gifts. These are fresh bakes, not shelf-stable sweets, so they need eating fairly soon. If you want classic British confectionery, look elsewhere. If you want handmade cakes and brownies, it is a strong choice.
