What's in the box: A box of compostable organic coffee cups in your chosen mix of blends, or a 375g bag of organic whole beans.
De Koffiejongens is a Dutch coffee brand selling organic specialty coffee as compostable cups and whole beans, sent through your letterbox. The cup range covers seven options, from a mild Lungo at intensity 4/12 to a punchy Ristretto at 11/12, plus a decaf. A special edition Espresso Forte, a single origin coffee from Mount Elgon in Uganda, is currently featured with notes of caramel, orange peel and dark chocolate. The company says its coffee is grown without pesticides, bought directly from farmers and ranks among the best 5% in the world, though that last claim is its own. The cups are made from plants and can go in the green waste bin. The subscription is flexible: you build your own mix, choose a delivery interval from weekly to every 12 weeks, and can change, pause or cancel at any time. A 60 cup subscription box is listed at €23.95, with €5 off the first order, while a one time order of the same box costs €27.95. That works out to about €0.40 per cup, which is fair for organic capsules, and shipping is free. Annual subscribers are currently offered a SMEG toaster while stocks last, a nice extra but not a reason to commit for a year. Packing is done by a social workplace. Check that the cups suit your machine before ordering.
