What's in the box: Expect bags of single-origin specialty coffee, roasted light to medium and chosen from Drop's current rotating lineup.
Drop Coffee is an independent specialty roastery and café in Stockholm, Sweden. It has roasted in small batches on a Diedrich IR-25 since 2013 and holds a silver medal from the World Roasting Championships. The roastery aims for a clear, bright cup where the coffee's origin comes through, with as much acidity and sweetness as possible. All roasts are light to medium and work for any brewing method. Depending on origin, some coffees taste juicy and acidic while others are creamier and more chocolatey. The current range leans heavily on El Salvador, alongside coffees from Kenya, Ethiopia and Guatemala, and includes washed, honey, natural and anaerobic natural processes. Drop is also unusually open about sourcing. It says every coffee scores 86 or higher on the SCA cupping scale, it publishes the FOB prices it pays, and many of its producer relationships go back more than ten years. The site does offer subscriptions, but it does not explain how they work, how often they ship, or how coffees are picked. Check those details before you sign up. If you like dark, roasty coffee, this probably isn't for you. If you like bright, origin-driven coffee and care about transparent buying, it is a strong choice.
