What's in the box: Pre-portioned organic ingredients and recipe cards for the dishes you pick that week, usually sized for two people, with most recipes taking 15 to 30 minutes.
Ekomenu is a Dutch meal kit service built around organic ingredients and vegetable-heavy cooking. The company says everything is 100% organic and unsprayed, with no E-numbers, and that it works with local producers and avoids food waste. Each week you choose from more than 35 dishes across 14 eating styles, so vegetarian, gluten-free and lactose-free cooks should find plenty to pick from. A sample week included a vegetarian laksa with tofu, nasi kuning with egg and sticky aubergine, celeriac purée with pancetta, a carrot stew with salmon, and a low-carb kale Caesar salad. Each recipe lists its cooking time (15 to 30 minutes), calories per portion and grams of vegetables per serving, often 250 g or more, which helps if you track what you eat. Prices start at €6.42 per portion, which is reasonable for organic produce. Some dishes cost extra, though, such as €1.05 per person for the salmon. Dishes are shown for two people by default, and the site does not clearly list other box sizes up front. It also does not spell out delivery areas, delivery days or subscription terms, so check those before ordering. Overall it is a solid choice for health-focused households in the Netherlands who want organic ingredients without having to plan meals.
