Fae Crate

What's in the box: An exclusive special edition hardcover of a YA or Adult fantasy, sci-fi or romance book, or one of each with the combo plan.

Fae Crate is a US-based book subscription built around special edition fantasy, science fiction and romance titles, split across Young Adult and Adult readers. There are three monthly plans: a YA book for $30, an Adult book for $35, or both together for $60. Each pick is an exclusive edition, and the company points to custom jackets, special hardcovers and decorated page edges as the main draw. Separately, its Opus collection offers limited edition print runs of Adult and New Adult series, produced with the authors and sold through the shop rather than the subscription. The company is open about its values. It describes its team as diverse and queer, says representation in its books, authors and artists matters to it, and says most of its picks include indie titles. It also takes public positions on political and identity issues, which some readers will welcome and others may not. Fae Crate ships worldwide from the US. The site's main page does not say whether a box includes anything beyond the book, so if you want bookish extras, check the current theme details before you subscribe. Shipping costs are not listed up front either. If you care about shelf appeal and finding indie authors, this is a focused, clearly defined choice.
