What's in the box: A box typically holds six or twelve bottles of wine picked to match your taste profile, each with pairing and tasting notes.
Firstleaf is a US wine club that picks its shipments using a short taste quiz. It then changes later picks based on how you rate each bottle. You answer a few questions, get a box of wines chosen for you, and your profile improves over time. New members start with a discounted six bottle introductory box. The site says later club shipments cost $99 each, with no extra fees and no commitment. You can set shipments to arrive every 2 to 12 weeks, and you can change the number of bottles. After the intro, six bottle members get a year of free shipping, and 12 bottle members get two free wines instead. Every bottle comes with pairing and tasting notes, and the company offers free consultations with a wine concierge. Firstleaf says its wines win many awards. It also promises to replace any wine you dislike in your next order, which lowers the risk of a bad pick. The main thing to watch is that the club runs on automatic shipments. If you only wanted the intro offer, you need to cancel or manage your schedule. Many of the wines are exclusive to the club, so it is harder to compare their value with store prices. The homepage also showed two different intro prices at the same time, so check the total at checkout.
