What's in the box: A membership typically delivers a regular supply of seed pods you choose from a catalog of more than 100 non-GMO greens, herbs, vegetables and fruits, ready to drop into the Gardyn unit.

Gardyn is a vertical hydroponic garden for the home. You buy the hardware, and an optional membership keeps you supplied with plant pods. It comes in two sizes. Gardyn Home holds 30 plants and is aimed at households of three or four. Gardyn Studio holds 16 plants and suits one or two people in an apartment. The catalog has more than 100 non-GMO varieties, from leafy greens and herbs to tomatoes and other fruiting plants. The unit sets its own light and watering schedules. Built-in cameras and sensors feed an AI assistant called Kelby, which adjusts a care plan and sends alerts and harvest reminders through the Gardyn app. That makes it easy for people with no gardening experience. Gardyn says the device and its prepaid membership can be paid for with HSA or FSA funds through a partnership with Truemed, which may soften the cost for shoppers who qualify. The homepage does not show prices, so check the full cost of the unit plus the ongoing membership before you commit. The main downsides are the upfront cost, the floor space and power outlet it needs, and how much it relies on the app and connected features. If you want a steady supply of fresh greens and herbs indoors with little effort, it is one of the more polished options.
