What's in the box: Pre-portioned, chilled Canadian ingredients for your chosen weekly recipes, plus step-by-step recipe cards, delivered in eco-friendly packaging.

Goodfood is a Canadian meal kit service built around three priorities: large portions, Canadian ingredients and quick cooking. You pick a plan by number of portions and delivery day, then choose from a weekly menu of new recipes, drawn from a library the company says holds over 500. Each meal comes with step-by-step recipe cards and videos. Its main selling point right now is that every meal is sized to leave leftovers for the next day's lunch, which can make the cost per meal go further if that suits your routine. The menu sticks mostly to familiar comfort food with some global flavours, such as chicken adobo, moo shu-style pork bowls, sumac salmon with bulgur, and butternut squash mac and cheese. Recipes are sorted into lines like Classic, Veggie and Clean15, but the vegetarian choice looks smaller than the meat options. Goodfood names specific sources, including Manitoba beef, PEI potatoes, and poultry from Ontario and Quebec, and says it uses as many local ingredients as the climate allows. The promise that every recipe takes under 20 minutes is ambitious. The company's own figure puts its success rate at 93%, so expect the occasional longer night. Its comparisons with competitors are its own claims. Pricing is on a separate page, so check plan costs before you commit.
