Green Chef is a US meal kit service owned by HelloFresh, which acquired it in March 2018. Its pitch is healthier eating. The company says its produce and proteins are certified organic and that it bans more than 100 ingredients to help customers avoid ultra-processed foods. It offers 15+ new recipes each week, sorted into eating styles: Mediterranean, plant based, gluten-free, high protein, calorie smart (650 calories or less), carb smart, functional nutrition and quick and easy. Green Chef says most recipes are ready in 30 minutes or less. Ingredients arrive pre-portioned with step-by-step instructions. You can customize the menu by swapping or doubling proteins, carbs and vegetables. A useful extra is free one-on-one nutrition coaching with a registered dietitian. The site also uses marketing claims such as being clinically proven to help people maintain healthy eating habits. Those claims are the company's own, not independent findings. You can pause or cancel your subscription anytime. Green Chef is generally seen as a premium meal kit, so it suits people who care more about organic ingredients and diet-specific plans than about the lowest cost per serving. It has the usual meal kit downsides: lots of packaging and weekly orders you have to keep up with.
