Hektar Nektar

What's in the box: There is no box; the subscription is a monthly seller plan, and buyers purchase individual listings such as colonies, queens, honey or equipment directly from beekeepers.

Hektar Nektar is not a subscription box in the usual sense. It is an Austrian online marketplace where beekeepers in Austria and Germany buy and sell bee colonies, nucleus colonies, queens, swarms, honey, propolis and used equipment directly from one another, with no middleman. Buyers browse listings and contact the seller through the site, and the two parties arrange pickup or delivery themselves. Recent offers ranged from unmated Carnica queens to bulk honey in 40 kg pails and a used honey extractor. The only recurring payment is Imker Pro, a plan for beekeepers at 14.90 euros a month that lets them post offers and keep unlimited colonies in the digital hive record. Free accounts get a public apiary profile, the hive record for up to three colonies, and access to a beginner section covering hive systems, basic equipment, costs and legal duties. The site also links to a partner retailer, FAIE, for new hives, tools and bee health products. It has been running since 2017 and is in German. If you want honey or bee products shipped to you on a schedule, look elsewhere. If you keep bees, or plan to start, in Austria or Germany, it is a practical regional hub.
