What's in the box: Each shipment is a pack of two borrowed wooden jigsaw puzzles from the club's library, either laser-cut or hand-cut, which you return when you're done.
Hoefnagel Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle Club works more like a lending library than a classic subscription box. You don't buy puzzles to keep. You borrow wooden jigsaws in packs of two, work through them as quickly or slowly as you like, and send them back for the next pack. The library is large, with over 2,000 unique puzzles from more than 100 makers, including well known names such as Artifact, Liberty, Stave and Wentworth. It has both laser-cut and hand-cut puzzles, and new packs are added regularly. Returns use a QR code, so you don't need a printer to send puzzles back. Membership costs $36 a month or $360 a year. Shipping adds $12.50 in total for each two-puzzle pack. Premium wooden puzzles often cost a lot to buy one at a time, so the club can be good value if you finish several puzzles a month. If you puzzle slowly, compare the shipping charge on each pack with how often you'll actually swap. The main trade-off is that you never own anything. Every puzzle goes back, so this doesn't suit people who want to build a collection or keep their favorites. The site doesn't say how worn borrowed puzzles might be or what happens if a piece goes missing, so read the FAQ before joining. The club has been running since 2020 and offers gift memberships.
