Ownership. Bought by Relatable, the company behind What Do You Meme?, in February 2024; the subscription is still sold.

What's in the box: A box of realistic case evidence such as documents, photographs, letters and locked tins that you piece together to identify a killer.

Hunt A Killer sends murder mystery cases as physical boxes of evidence that you work through at your own table. The company built its name on an episodic subscription and was bought in February 2024 by Relatable, the company behind What Do You Meme?. The subscription is still sold, but the website now leads with standalone cases you can buy one at a time, so you can try a single mystery before committing. Each box holds documents, photographs, locked tins and other evidence, and there is no app involved. You read, cross reference, argue and eventually name the killer. Cases are designed for one to six players, which makes them work as a solo project or a group night. The newest case, The Bugman, is listed at $99.99 and estimated at four to six hours, while several other cases sell for $29.99. Customer ratings on the site vary a lot between cases: The Salem Slicer averages 4.5 stars, while Rideshare Homicide sits at 2.6, so it is worth checking reviews per case rather than assuming consistent quality. The site offers a hints and reveals section for when you get stuck, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee. Overall it is a well known name in the category with genuinely tactile puzzles, though value depends on which case you pick.
