What's in the box: Freshly roasted organic, fair trade coffee beans from the Kaffeefabrik range, for either espresso or filter brewing.
Kaffeefabrik is a Vienna roastery, café and coffee school that has been running for 15 years. Every coffee it sells is organic and fair trade. The range is broad for a small roaster. It covers espresso roasts described as nutty, fruity or floral, plus filter coffees such as a natural from the Guji region of Ethiopia and an anaerobic microlot from small farmers in Cajamarca, Peru. There is also a decaf and a signature blend, Sidama, Mon Amour. The shop offers a dedicated coffee subscription that can also be bought as a gift. You can also subscribe to individual coffees instead of buying them once, at a discount compared with single purchases. The roastery says it works through Roasters United to support direct trading relationships with producers, and the owner visits origins in person. The shop is aimed mainly at Austria. The site does not clearly explain how the subscription is structured, for example how often coffee arrives or whether you can choose the beans. Check those details before you commit. The webshop is also new, and accounts from the old site were not carried over, so returning customers have to register again.
