KILUDO

What's in the box: The site does not say exactly what a subscription delivery holds, but its range covers craft kits, project instructions and a creative magazine for children.

KILUDO is a Swiss creative platform for children. It sells craft instructions, craft kits, subscriptions and a printed magazine. If you want a box built only around science, know that experiments are just one part of what it offers. Most projects are crafts: paper and cardboard, nature, painting, games and party ideas. A section called Tüfteln und Entdecken (tinkering and discovering) holds the more hands-on, science-flavoured activities, and the blog covers MINT, the German term for STEM. The company says a team of creative professionals and educators develops its projects and that children test each idea before it is published. Projects show one way to make something and then encourage kids to change and extend it. That suits open-ended creative play better than strict, step-by-step experiments. KILUDO offers a subscription and a KILUDO Plus membership, but the homepage does not say what a delivery contains, how often it arrives or what it costs. Check those details before you sign up. The site is in German, is aimed at Swiss families and also has material for schools. Recent content follows seasonal themes like autumn and Halloween, and a recent magazine issue covers staying creative while sick. For broad, carefully designed craft ideas with some science mixed in, KILUDO looks like a good choice. For a dedicated chemistry or physics kit, look elsewhere.
