What's in the box: The First Release box holds three 200mL cans of unpasteurized sake from Shimizu, Koka and Kanonji, each made with Yamada Nishiki rice from a different region.
KURA ONE is a Japanese sake brand built around tasting regional differences. Its current offer, the First Release set, is a limited-run box of three 200mL cans from Shimizu, Koka and Kanonji, described as floral, gentle and bold respectively. The hook is that these are namazake (unpasteurized sake) that the brand says can ship at room temperature thanks to filtration and an experienced canning partner, and that all three use Yamada Nishiki rice grown in different areas, so you can taste how place shapes flavor. Small cans make side by side tasting easy without opening full bottles. Beyond the fixed three-can set, the site says you can mix the three labels freely in 3, 6 or 21 can orders. Domestic shipping is free, including remote islands, and overseas delivery is supported. There is also a gift collaboration with Hyatt Regency Tokyo pairing three sakes with a cake for 8,800 yen, sold only through the hotel's online store. Note that the site does not clearly describe a recurring subscription. It mentions a membership area, but the main offer looks like one-off limited boxes that end once stock runs out. The selection is also small, with three labels in the core range. Good for curious beginners, less so for anyone wanting monthly variety.
