What's in the box: Nothing ships anymore, and the site does not say what a membership included, but its free downloads include printable stationery, artistamps and paper craft projects.
Letter Writers Alliance is closed. The membership organization retired in summer 2020, and its website remains only as an archive. Kathy Zadrozny and Donovan Beeson founded it in summer 2007 as a member-based group devoted to keeping letter writing alive. While it ran, it matched pen pals, kept a blog from June 2007 to December 2019, hosted online Letter Socials and a book club, and published a short newsletter in four volumes between fall 2018 and winter 2019. The site does not say what a paid membership included, so it is unclear what members received by mail. You can no longer join, and pen pal matching has ended. The founders say they no longer keep a list of past matches and cannot help reconnect lost pen pals. Some useful material remains for letter writers. The site still offers free printable stationery, a folding sheet that becomes its own envelope, artistamp sheets, a DIY cipher wheel, a perpetual calendar, and a farewell postage stamp design you can upload to a personalized stamp service. Recorded events and old blog posts are also still online. Treat it as a free resource library rather than a subscription. If you want an active pen pal program, look elsewhere.
