What's in the box: Each month brings one subscriber-only vegan cheese with a board tutorial, pairing guide and recipes, and the Signature tier adds a second cheese.

Mad Cheese is a small Cincinnati maker of plant-based cheese, and its subscription club is a monthly way to try its work. This is not a cheese making kit. You receive finished vegan cheese, not cultures or equipment. The company says everything is handmade in small batches, and its range runs past 15 varieties. They include a smoky gouda style called GoudaVibes, a soft herbed spread and an aged garlic truffle cheese. The site highlights awards for Best Vegan Cheese 2024 and Best Vegan Gouda 2025, but it does not say who gave them. There are two tiers. Classic costs $18 a month and includes one cheese available only to subscribers, plus a board tutorial, pairing notes and recipes. Signature costs $35 a month and adds a second cheese chosen from the regular lineup. Boxes ship the first Wednesday of each month, you can cancel anytime, and 3 or 6 month gift options are available. Shipping covers the whole US. The appeal is getting cheeses you cannot buy elsewhere, along with guidance on building a board around them. The drawback is quantity. One cheese a month on the base plan is not much. The site also does not state cheese sizes, shipping costs, or ingredients and allergens such as nuts, which matters to many plant-based shoppers.
