What's in the box: Depending on the plan, a mix of candles, wax melts, diffusers and accessories chosen by the maker, or your own selection of wax melts with free tealights.
Mecoco is the home fragrance brand run by Sense Scotland, a Scottish charity supporting disabled people, and its products are made at a workshop in Glasgow. The subscription page offers two routes. The Mystery Box contains what the site describes as £20+ worth of handpicked items, and you pick one of three styles: Scent-sational (candles, melts and diffusers), Light Up My Life (candles and diffusers) or Melting Moments (melts and diffusers). Boxes can arrive monthly, every two months or every three months, and may include "whoopsies", which are products with cosmetic flaws such as off-centre wicks, dented tins or crooked labels. Each box also comes with a thank you card from volunteers and a 10% discount code. The Wax Melt Subscription is the predictable option. You choose your scents and frequency, get a free melt burner with the first delivery and recycled soy wax tealights in every box, and the packaging is described as plastic-free. The site says you can change, pause or cancel at any time. Much of the appeal is supporting a charitable enterprise as well as getting the products. The subscription page does not list scent profiles or ingredients, so newcomers may want to browse the shop first. Including imperfect stock reduces waste, though anyone wanting pristine gift items should know it.
