Closed. The website no longer works: it shows a hosting or server error instead of a shop. San Diego startup covered in the press in 2016–2017; no current activity or closure notice found.

What's in the box: When it operated, a box held an assortment of Mexican candies and snacks, typically with sweet, sour, salty and chili flavors.

Mexitreat is not currently operating. Its website shows a server error instead of a shop, so you can no longer order or manage a subscription there. When it was running, Mexitreat was a San Diego startup that got some press attention in 2016 and 2017. It sold a box of Mexican snacks and candy, mainly to shoppers in the US. The idea was simple: send a rotating mix of treats from Mexico to people who missed them or wanted to try something new, so they did not have to search specialty stores. Mexican candy is known for flavor combinations that are less common in American sweets, such as tamarind, chili, lime and salt. That made a box like this a fun tasting tour or a nostalgic gift. We could not find a closure announcement, and the company has shown no recent activity. There is no information about what happened to remaining subscriptions or orders. If you once subscribed, check your card statements and contact your card issuer about any unexpected charges. We do not recommend trying to sign up. If you want Mexican snacks, look for a box service that is still active, or visit a local Mexican grocery or the international aisle of a larger supermarket, where you can find many of the same kinds of treats.
