What's in the box: Pre-portioned, locally sourced ingredients and recipe cards for your chosen number of weeknight dinners, with optional ready made meals and extras.

My Food Bag is one of New Zealand's best known meal kit services, and its recipes are inspired by chef Nadia Lim. It promises a mid-week dinner routine that doesn't get stuck on repeat, and the menu supports that with 30+ recipes to choose from each week. You choose a plan for 1, 2, 4 or 6 people and 3, 4 or 5 meals a week. Then you can filter by preference: high protein (40g or more per serve), quick and easy, kid-friendly, low carb, vegan and veggie, gluten free (supported by Coeliac New Zealand) or a diabetes plan supported by Diabetes NZ. Gourmet recipes cost an extra $3.99 per plate. Besides the main bag there are Bargain Box, Fresh Start and Ready Made ranges, plus gifting and care packages. You can swap or double proteins and add extras to your order. Recent dishes run from pork belly roast with kūmara mash to 15-minute chicken pitas and sticky muhammara tofu, so the variety looks real. The site says ingredients are locally sourced. The main thing to weigh is cost. Meal kits usually cost more than doing your own shop, so check the weekly total for your plan size before you sign up. Overall, it's a mature and flexible choice for Kiwi households who want help with weeknight dinners.
