What's in the box: Each month brings one or more age-appropriate Jewish storybooks, such as board books, picture books or early chapter books, picked for your child's age.
PJ Library is a book program, not a typical paid subscription box. Each month it mails free, high-quality Jewish storybooks to families raising Jewish children. Experts choose titles for each age, and the books change as kids grow: board books for babies, then picture books and early chapter books up to age 8. The stories are meant to get families talking about Jewish life and celebrating it together. The website adds a lot to the mailings. It has holiday hubs for Shabbat, Havdalah and Sukkot with blessings, recipes, book lists and craft ideas. There are two podcasts for kids, and there are resources to help parents talk with children about difficult subjects such as antisemitism and Israel. Its Get Together microgrant covers $100 in expenses when you host other families raising Jewish children for a Jewish-themed gathering, and you report on it afterward instead of applying in advance. The program depends on donations, and the site does not say exactly who qualifies or which areas it serves, so check before you sign up. You also don't pick the titles, which some parents won't like. For families who want Jewish stories and holiday traditions to be part of everyday home life, it is hard to beat.
