What's in the box: Boxes are likely to feature Quicke's own handmade clothbound cheeses, but the homepage does not list exact contents.
Quicke's is a long established cheesemaker based at Home Farm in Newton St Cyres, near Exeter in Devon. It says it has farmed there for nearly 500 years. It is best known for traditional clothbound cheddar made by hand from milk produced on its own land. The range runs from the mellow Buttery Cheddar through the Mature Clothbound to a crumbly Vintage Clothbound aged for two years. The cheese subscription comes in 3, 6, 9 or 12 month options, so it works as a gift as well as for your own table. The homepage does not say exactly what goes into each box, how often boxes ship or what a plan costs, so check the subscription page before you buy. Because Quicke's makes its own cheese, expect the boxes to centre on its own cheddars rather than cheeses from many British makers. The shop also sells crackers, chutneys, charcuterie, olives and English drinks, plus letterbox hampers, so extras are easy to add. Delivery is free on hampers and on orders over £60, and orders placed before 1pm get next day delivery to mainland GB. Overall it is a solid choice for cheddar lovers who care about provenance.
