Short Par 4 is a monthly golf membership that sends brand name apparel and accessories chosen by its team of "Style Caddies." You start with a style quiz covering your fit, style and taste, and each month's box is built from those answers. The company says boxes can include polos, pants, shorts, outerwear, shoes and accessories from well known golf labels. It also runs a members' store called the Vault, which carries brands such as Good Good, Callaway, Nike, TaylorMade and Melin, and members get a discount there. Special edition drops, including Ryder Cup and official PGA gear, are offered from time to time. The site says you can cancel anytime, which lowers the risk of trying it. Our main complaint is how little the site tells you up front. It does not clearly say what each plan costs, how many items come in a box, or what the retail value is. Strong claims like "pays for itself" and "save hundreds to thousands" are not backed by any specifics. It is also unclear how returns or exchanges work for items that don't fit. If you like getting surprise gear and trust a stylist to choose for you, it is worth a look. Shoppers who want a specific brand or item may do better buying it directly.
