What's in the box: An age-appropriate Hebrew children's book each month, often accompanied by suggested activities and conversation prompts for families.
Sifriyat Pijama is the Israeli program of the Harold Grinspoon Foundation, the same organization behind PJ Library. It works differently from a typical retail subscription box. Books are generally distributed free to children through participating daycares, preschools and early elementary classrooms, and children take them home to keep. The site groups its monthly selections by stage: two toddler levels, younger and older kindergarten, first grade and second grade. Recent picks lean toward warm, discussion-friendly stories, alongside Israeli classics, with monthly themes such as friendship, cooperation and life skills. The program says it has distributed more than 15 million books. Beyond the books, the website offers supporting material for families and educators, including games, short videos, read-aloud audio, craft and exploration activities, and guidance sessions for teaching staff. It also accepts manuscript submissions from authors. The main limitation for shoppers is access. This is not something you simply buy and have shipped; participation usually runs through your child's educational setting, and the site is in Hebrew. For families in Israel whose child's framework takes part, it is a generous, well-curated way to build a home library of Hebrew books.
