What's in the box: Three or six themed bottles of red, white, rosé or sometimes sparkling wine, each with a card on taste profile and food pairing.
Sommes Wines is a small Belgian wine subscription run by two brothers who are both qualified wine experts. You can choose a monthly or every-other-month delivery of three or six bottles. Each box has a theme and can include red, white or rosé, with the occasional sparkling wine. Every bottle comes with a card covering its taste profile, food pairings and some background, which makes the box useful if you want to learn as you drink. If you like a particular wine, you can reorder it while stock lasts. To try the service before subscribing, there is a one-off trial box with three wines that follows the season. Delivery happens on the first Tuesday or Wednesday of the month. The brothers also host custom tasting evenings for groups and put together corporate gifts, and boxes can be bought as presents through the webshop. The site is in Dutch, and you should check the delivery area page to see where they ship. Prices are not shown on the main page, so look at the webshop before you decide. On the whole it is a personal, curated service built around honest, good-quality wines, and it suits Flemish-speaking households who would rather have someone else choose for them.
