Sophia's Spicy Treats

What's in the box: The site does not say what a subscription box holds, but the shop's range is chamoy-coated gummies and candies, chamoy sauces, rim paste and Mexican candy.

Sophia's Spicy Treats is a shop based in Houston, Texas, and almost everything it sells involves chamoy, the sweet, salty, tangy and chili-spiked Mexican sauce. Most of the catalog is familiar American gummies and chewy candies coated in chamoy, such as Gushers, peach rings, sour belts, Skittles, Starburst, Fruit by the Foot and gummy sharks. It also sells bottled chamoy sauces in several flavors, a chamoy rim paste for coating glasses, and a variety pack where you pick several candies and a chamoy flavor. The store also has categories for mystery boxes, pickle kits, Mexican candy and subscription boxes. However, the site does not explain how the subscription works, how often boxes ship or what each delivery includes, so check those details before you sign up. The shop also posts recipes, like a peach chamoyada drink, and keeps a blog. If you love the chamoy candy trend, the appeal is easy to see: there are lots of coated candies to choose from, and the rim paste makes micheladas or chamoyadas at home simple. The downside is that most of the lineup is mainstream candy with a chamoy coating rather than imported Mexican sweets. How much you enjoy it will also depend on how spicy and how fresh the coated gummies are. Without clearer subscription details, it is hard to judge as a curated box.
