Square Hue is no longer operating. Its website does not load, and the company reportedly went out of business around March 2018, which is also when its Instagram account was last updated. When it ran, Square Hue was a US monthly nail polish subscription. Unlike many boxes, it made its own polish instead of repackaging other brands. Each month subscribers got a small set of full-size bottles in original shades made for that month's collection, usually built around a theme. The main draw was novelty. The colors were exclusive to the box, so collectors got shades they could not easily find in stores. The brand also said its formulas left out several common harsh chemicals. Now that the company is gone, you can't subscribe, buy past collections from the brand, or reach customer support. Any bottles you find secondhand are now years old. Nail polish can thicken or separate with age, so be careful with resale bottles and don't pay collector prices without knowing their condition. If you liked the idea of a monthly box of exclusive indie shades, look for a nail polish subscription that is still running. Check its recent activity and reviews before you commit. Square Hue is best remembered as an example of the indie polish subscription trend of the mid 2010s.
