The Local Box (The Local Space)

What's in the box: An assortment of products from Canadian small businesses, likely including snacks, treats, bath and body care, and skincare, changing each quarter.

The Local Box comes from The Local Space, a gift shop in Chilliwack, BC. The shop has been open since 2017 and says it carries more than 250 Canadian brands. The subscription is simple. You sign up, the shop puts together a new box each quarter, and it ships four times a year. Contents change every quarter and the site does not show what is coming next, so each box is a surprise. Shipping anywhere in Canada costs $14.99. If you live near Chilliwack you can pick up for free, and there is also a weekly pickup option in Langley. The shop's free shipping offer for orders over $125 does not cover subscription boxes. You can cancel anytime, with no contract. The store's range runs from lip balm, bath soaks and skincare to seasoned pretzels, lollipops and drink mixes. Many of its brands are labelled women-run, and some are BIPOC-owned. The site does not list the subscription price per box or say how much each box is worth, so check those details before you sign up. The shop shows a 4.92 average from over 1,000 store reviews. That points to a well-run local business, but those reviews are not specific to the box.
