The Mass Box

What's in the box: Craft projects and printables themed to each Sunday's Mass readings, paired with how-to videos and discussion of the readings.

The Mass Box is a Catholic craft subscription built around the Sunday Mass readings. It is aimed mainly at kids ages 7 to 10, or any child who loves crafting. Each week's theme pairs a hands-on project with that Sunday's readings. Families also get how-to videos from the 'Catholic Crafts with Clare' series, printables, and short discussions of the readings. It's a good idea because it gives parents an easy way to help children prepare for Mass and talk about what they will hear in church.

The big caveat is availability. The company announced it was stepping back from mailing boxes in 2024 to regroup and make the mailings financially stable. It explained that it had been subsidizing shipments for a long time. The newest craft posts on the site date from early 2024, and the site does not say when or whether mailed boxes will return. Before you try to subscribe, check the site or join the email list for the current status.

What's still useful is the free online library of past crafts, videos, and printables, plus a free 16-page church tour comic and activity book. The organization is based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and accepts tax-deductible donations. For now, think of The Mass Box as a free Catholic family resource, not a monthly delivery you can count on.
