What's in the box: There is no physical box; members receive a weekly writing prompt by email every Sunday and can optionally join an in-store pen pal network.
The Sunday Letter Project is less a subscription box than a gentle habit-building scheme. It is run by the stationery shop Wildflower Illustration Co. and started in late September 2025. It asks you to take a pledge to write one letter every Sunday, and in return you get a writing prompt by email each week. You can write to anyone you like, whether that is family, friends, yourself or a stranger. Nothing physical arrives in the post, so you will need your own paper, pens and stamps. The site does not say whether joining costs anything. The more unusual part is the Letter Keepers network, an offline pen pal scheme based in shops and cafes. You visit a participating store to be matched with a pen pal, and you do not need to have taken the pledge or commit to writing every week. The catch is that this only helps if a Letter Keeper is near you, and the site does not say how many locations exist in the UK. The site says more than 18,000 people have joined, which suggests a real community, though the project is still young. If you want a nudge to put pen to paper rather than a parcel of goodies, this is a thoughtful, low pressure way to start. If you expect monthly stationery, look elsewhere.
