What's in the box: Each quarter brings one bottle of mezcal, raicilla, bacanora, or another agave spirit, chosen and tasted by the shop's staff.
Unwind Bottle Shop's agave club is a simple quarterly program. Four times a year you get one bottle of mezcal or another agave spirit, such as raicilla or bacanora. Releases are planned for March, June, September, and December. The team says it tastes every pick. The bottles never repeat what goes out in the shop's Quarterly Tequila Club, so you can join both without getting duplicates. Joining is free. When each bottle is ready, your card is charged its suggested retail price, which is usually around $100 and never more than $150, plus tax and shipping. Shipping starts at $14.99, an adult signature is required, and free local pickup is available. The catch is that you only find out what the bottle is after you have paid. Release dates can also slip, so charges may come later than you expect. If you already bought that quarter's bottle from the shop, they will pick a different one, and they will consider other objections case by case. You can cancel at any time, but a quarter that has already been charged will still ship. The site also warns that right after you sign up, its system may send an automated message saying your order is 'fulfilled', which can be confusing. This club suits curious drinkers who trust a shop's palate more than collectors hunting for specific bottles.
