Wild salmon and seafood fans willing to wait for sign-ups to reopen

Paused. The website says new subscriptions are paused for now.

What's in the box: Deliveries focused on frozen wild-caught fish such as Alaskan salmon, halibut and cod, with options like shellfish, salmon burgers and chowders.

Vital Choice is not taking new subscriptions at the moment. The company says new sign-ups are paused, so you can't count on it for regular deliveries for now. When sign-ups were open, it delivered frozen wild-caught seafood from a catalog built mostly around Alaskan and Pacific fish. The range is broad: sockeye, coho and king salmon, halibut, cod, scallops and other shellfish, salmon burgers, chowders, and salmon roe. Many of the fish products carry MSC certification, a recognized standard for sustainable fisheries. The site also sells canned and pouched seafood, plus its own omega-3, vitamin D and botanical supplements. Even outside the subscription, stock looks limited. The site says some items are temporarily unavailable, and most of its best-known fish products show a future ship date. Only a few items, such as king salmon portions and canned sockeye, are listed as available now. Its products carry large numbers of customer reviews, which points to a long-running seller rather than a new startup. The site does not say how often deliveries came, how big the boxes were, or whether you could pick the contents. If you want regular seafood deliveries, choose a service that is taking subscribers now, and check back later to see whether Vital Choice reopens sign-ups.
