Whakoom Box

What's in the box: The new volumes released that month from the comic and manga collections you have chosen to follow.

Whakoom Box works more like a standing order at your local comic shop than a mystery box. You choose the collections you follow, and as new volumes come out during the month they are added to your box automatically. At the end of the month you get a notice listing what is inside, and you have three days to change the order before payment is taken and the box ships. Everything arrives in a single monthly shipment. Coverage comes from four major Spanish publishers: Planeta Cómic, Norma Editorial, Panini Comics and Ivrea. Between them they cover a large share of the superhero, European and manga releases sold in Spain, though smaller publishers are not listed. Shipping is free on orders from 29€; below that it costs 3.95€. The site promotes a time-limited 5% discount on the comics, not on shipping, for new subscribers who keep their subscription active. The service says there is no minimum commitment, and you can add or remove collections whenever you like. It is only available in Spain and is still labelled as a beta, so expect some rough edges. The site does not state a subscription fee separate from the cost of the comics themselves. For readers following several ongoing series, it is a practical way to stay current without tracking release dates.
