Closed.Wisconsin Food Gift Company, which traded as Wisconsin Cheeseman, closed for good on March 31, 2011 because it ran short of cash.
What's in the box: There is no current box; the gift catalog sells Wisconsin cheeses, cheese spreads, cured meats and sweets, mostly as assortments.
The original Wisconsin Cheeseman business is not operating as it once did: Wisconsin Food Gift Company, which traded under that name, closed for good on March 31, 2011 after running short of cash. The name is still in use, though. A website at wisconsincheeseman.com is live today. It lists itself among the Colony Brands affiliated sites and sells food gifts under the Wisconsin Cheeseman name with the line "Quality Food Gifts Since 1946." What it sells is a gift catalog, not a subscription box. The site's categories are cheese, cheese spreads, assortments, meats, sweets, nuts and snacks, and corporate gifts. Items include a charcuterie set, a hickory smoked turkey, cheesecakes, cookies and popcorn tins. The site also promotes shipping gifts to several addresses in one checkout and a store credit plan for paying over time. We found no recurring delivery or club option in the material we reviewed, so we do not list it as an active subscription service and do not give it a rating. If you want a monthly cheese or charcuterie delivery, look at services that run one now. As with any store financing, read the credit plan's terms carefully before you use it.
