Woop is a New Zealand meal kit that stands out because it does more of the prep work than most of its competitors. Many kits send you raw groceries and a recipe card. Woop chops, slices and steams the vegetables, marinates the meats and makes its own sauces and dressings before anything is packed. You finish the cooking and plate up, and most dishes are designed to be ready in about 25 minutes, with some taking as little as 15. Plans cover three, four or five nights for one, two or four people, and you can change, skip or pause deliveries. The weekly menu changes and is split into ranges including Foodie, Classic, Balance, Vegetarian and Gluten Free. Sample dishes include chicken katsu, chorizo gnocchi and za'atar chicken with hummus. Each meal comes in its own colour-coded bag with a matching recipe card, which makes a busy weeknight easier. On packaging, Woop runs a scheme called Back to Base: when your next box arrives, the driver collects the old one and its packaging for recycling or reuse.
