Agrilution (Plantcube)

Agrilution is no longer operating. It closed on June 30, 2023, and its old website now redirects to Miele, which bought the Munich company in December 2019. The company says it found no economically viable basis for the business in Germany. Agrilution made the Plantcube, a fridge-sized appliance that could be built into a kitchen and grew microgreens, herbs and baby leaf greens indoors. It managed light, water and climate automatically and was controlled through a smartphone app. The recurring part of the service was the Seedbar range: pre-seeded mats that you placed in the unit's growing drawers and reordered as you harvested. The idea was a steady supply of fresh greens without soil, pesticides or gardening know-how. Now that the business has shut down, you cannot buy new Seedbars or new Plantcubes from Agrilution, and the website and support channels that went with them are gone. Anyone who still owns a Plantcube should not expect official refills or software updates. If you want hydroponic greens at home, look for an indoor growing system that is still on sale and still makes its own seed pods.
