Amazon's Prime Book Box for Kids no longer runs. It stopped taking new subscribers on October 11, 2024, and the last deliveries went out by December 31, 2024, when Amazon shut down its subscription box program. While it ran, the service mailed children's books picked by Amazon's editors. The books were grouped by age, from babies and toddlers up to early middle grade readers. Parents chose an age range and how often boxes arrived. Before each box shipped, they could see the chosen titles and swap out any they didn't want, which helped them avoid books their kids already owned. Younger children usually got board books or picture books, and older kids got chapter books or novels. The main draw was convenience: new books arrived regularly without anyone having to search a huge catalog. On the downside, it was only for Prime members, and the picks mostly stuck to popular, easy-to-find titles rather than lesser-known ones. Amazon.com still operates as a general store, but this box is no longer offered there. Families who want something similar should look at other children's book subscriptions or at library reading programs.
