What's in the box: An assortment of the week's seasonal, agroecologically grown vegetables and produce from small Mexican farms, sized from 3.5 kg to 10 kg.
Arca Tierra is a Mexico City network that has worked since 2009 to support small-scale farming through regenerative agriculture and fair trade. Its main offer is a basket of the week's harvest, sold by subscription or as a one-time purchase. The baskets come in four sizes: Individual (3.5 kg, $290.00), Media (5 kg, $350.00), Completa (7.5 kg, $510.00) and Familiar (10 kg, $670.00). The produce comes from more than 40 farming families in Milpa Alta and Xochimilco in CDMX, Huasca de Ocampo in Hidalgo, Pahuatlán in Puebla, and Amanalco and Polvillos in the State of Mexico. Arca Tierra says these farmers grow without agrochemicals and save their own seeds. You choose your delivery days and how often you want a basket. You can also pick up your order for free at the warehouse in San Miguel de Chapultepec. The online shop sells extra artisanal and organic Mexican foods to add to your basket, and the site has recipes for using seasonal ingredients. Delivery area is checked by postal code, so not everyone can get it. Because the contents depend on the harvest, you do not choose individual items. Arca Tierra also runs rural and food tourism experiences in Xochimilco.
