BONSAI ART

What's in the box: Each delivery is a print issue of the magazine with articles, galleries and features on bonsai, pots, suiseki and Asian art.

BONSAI ART is a specialist print magazine from Münster, Germany, rather than a box of trees, tools or supplies. Subscribers receive the magazine by post. It covers bonsai design and care, bonsai pots, suiseki (viewing stones), and wider Asian art and culture. Issue numbers have passed 199, so this is a well established title with a long publishing history, not a new venture. Recurring features include a monthly shohin (small bonsai) spotlight, articles on pot motifs, a long-running series on pot knowledge, artist profiles and coverage of major exhibitions such as the Kokufu-ten in Japan. The main magazine is in German, but the publisher has started an English version, now at its third issue, which opens it to readers outside the German-speaking market. The online shop sells single issues and back issues, so you can sample before committing. The site does not clearly state subscription pricing, publication frequency or international shipping terms, so check those before ordering. Phone support is available on weekday mornings and most afternoons. For serious hobbyists who want in-depth reading and photography, this is a credible, focused choice.
