Douglas Box of Beauty, also called Doubox, is no longer operating. Douglas ended the subscription in early 2016, and members received their final box in February of that year. When it ran, it was a monthly beauty box from Douglas, one of the best known perfumery and cosmetics retailers in Germany. Subscribers in Germany received a curated selection of beauty products, usually a mix of sample and deluxe sizes across makeup, skincare, fragrance and haircare. The appeal was simple: an easy way to try brands stocked by Douglas before buying full sizes in store or online. Because the box came from a large retailer, the products tended to be recognisable names rather than obscure indie labels, which suited shoppers who wanted to test mainstream products. The usual drawback of a curated box applied here too. You did not choose the items, so some products might not suit your skin type, shade or taste. Douglas still runs its main beauty shop, but the box itself is gone and there is no way to subscribe or receive new boxes.
