Film Movement Film Club

What's in the box: Members get access to curated independent and international films, offered through the Film Movement Plus streaming service and the company's Blu-ray and DVD releases.

Film Movement is a US distributor of independent and international cinema, and its club has long been built around sending members acclaimed arthouse titles they might not otherwise find. Today the site puts most of its weight on two things: Film Movement Plus, a streaming subscription for award-winning and exclusive films, and a shop of Blu-rays and DVDs, including new restorations. Browsing categories include documentary, romance, LGBTQ+ and thriller. Individual discs list at $29.95 for DVD and $36.98 to $39.95 for Blu-ray. What the site does not clearly lay out is how a physical film club works now: there is no stated monthly price, shipping schedule or explanation of how titles are chosen on the main page. Check current terms before joining, since the company's focus appears to have shifted toward streaming. The curation itself is the real draw. The catalog leans on festival favorites, critically praised debuts and restored classics, the kind of titles that rarely turn up on mainstream platforms. If you enjoy world cinema and are happy to discover films chosen for you, Film Movement is a credible, long-running source. If you want clarity on cost and format up front, the lack of detail is a drawback.
