What's in the box: A monthly pack of age-matched children's books, such as board books, soft books, lift-the-flap books, counting books and simple picture stories.
Goboken is a Norwegian book club for babies and young children up to age six. It is run by the publisher Sandviks, which is part of the education group AcadeMedia. You start by choosing a free welcome pack for your child's stage. There are options for expecting parents, babies, one-year-olds, two-year-olds and children aged three and up. You pay only 79 kr for shipping on that first pack. After that, the club offers an age-matched book pack roughly once a month by email. Packs average 298 kr including shipping, and the club says this is about 30% below normal bookshop prices. Packs ship automatically unless you act. You can decline any month by cancelling before the deadline, and then you pay nothing. There is no obligation to buy, but you do agree to stay a member for six months. The books suit the early years: soft books, board books, word and picture books, counting books, lift-the-flap books and simple stories. You can change the recommended selection to fit what your child likes. The site is in Norwegian, so the club is aimed at families who read to their children in Norwegian. If you tend to miss email deadlines, you may get packs you did not plan to buy, so a monthly reminder helps.
