What's in the box: A themed box with 4 to 6 hands-on science and art projects plus a 12-page magazine that explains the topic.
Green Kid Crafts is a monthly STEAM subscription for children roughly 3 to 10 and up. Each month's box mixes science experiments with art projects around one theme. There are two lines: Discovery boxes for ages 5 to 10+ and Junior boxes for ages 3 to 5. Each box holds 4 to 6 screen-free, hands-on activities and a 12-page magazine that explains the month's theme. Past themes include shapes and structures, the solar system, birds and the rainforest. The company was founded by Penny Bauder, an environmental scientist, and sustainability is central to how it presents itself. The site lists its green practices and a partnership with One Tree Planted, and a warehouse team in San Diego, California packs the boxes by hand. Besides subscriptions, the store sells single packs sorted by age and gift cards, and schools and groups can order separately, including by purchase order. The number of activities per box is a real strength, and the two age tracks make it easier to match projects to a child's ability. The Discovery range is wide, though, so older kids may find some projects simple, and children in the Junior line will need adult help. Parents who want deep engineering or coding kits may prefer a more specialized box. For varied, low-prep creative science at home, this is a solid choice.
